The Scandinavian's have a saying ' No such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing'
We are outside in the woodlands all year round, so appropriate clothing for the weather is essential. Good sturdy footwear due to the uneven surface of the woodlands and it may be muddy. Layers of warm clothing as well as hats, gloves and waterproofs when the weather is colder and sun hats and sun cream on the hotter days when we are lucky enough to see the sunshine.
We are in the woods so no flip-flops or sandals please and even on hot days you will want your legs covered with trousers as its not fun being scratched by brambles or stung by nettles.
Wearing the correct clothing for the outdoor environment and weather means you can enjoy your time in the woodland. There is nothing worse than being too cold or wet.
Sessions will be cancelled if the Met Office weather forecast says wind speed or gusts of 35mph or over during the session as it will be unsafe to be in the woodland.
During some sessions you may get the chance to have a drink and a snack or cook something over the fire. Any food allergies or intolerances need to be disclosed to the FS Leader prior to any session.
The session leader holds a valid 2 day outdoor first aid certificate. However we need to know of any medical information at the beginning of the sessions. Any information you give will be treated confidentially and will not prejudice the inclusion of your child in any activity.
It is your responsibility to make sure any medication needed is brought with them to the sessions and the session leader is aware of this. It will need to be named and with the correct dosage written on it.
With your permission photographs maybe taken of the young people during activities. These are for use solely by Sticks and Fun for promotion and advertising on website, leaflets, press releases etc. When Photographs are used for promotional purposes only the image will be used and no personal information will be issued.
